At the moment of matriculation ceremonies of university, students want fun and they want to make them memorable. Songs, dances and plays in graduation ceremonies are very necessary to create a good and enjoyable environment for the students. At this moment, degrees, medals and different types of shields are also given to the students on their achievements and accomplishments.
Academic dresses are worn at the matriculation ceremonies of the university. Commonly, these academic dresses are known as gowns. Apparels are divided into two categories, clerical type gowns and lay type gowns. Clerical type gowns are further divided into five types like scholar uniform, BA uniform, MA dress, doctor full uniform dress and doctor convocation uniform. Lay type gowns are also divided into five different categories like graduate student gowns, higher faculty bachelor and master laced dress and chancellor and vice chancellor laced apparels.
Academic gowns and its related things are very crucial for the students, when they formally receive their degrees. Mostly, apparels are used at graduation level. There are many different guidelines are available for the graduation apparels. Apparel, cap, hood and tassels are the main components of this particular formal uniform which is worn at the different matriculation ceremonies of the university. In this article, I have mentioned main components of that particular formal uniform.
Graduation gowns: The apparels are manufactured in different designs and colors. Each design and color of a garment signifies a specific honor which is given to the student. The shape, color and design of the garment are changed according to the academic level of the students and their degrees which are being bestowed them. Higher degree graduates, bachelor’s students and diploma holders wear garments of different types that are different in its superiority and quality. The garments that are worn by higher graduate’s students are more superior and high quality garments than bachelor student’s garment and diploma holder’s costume. The manufacturing material of the costumes has great importance and people must consider it. Expensive costumes are manufactured from high quality material and cheap costumes are manufactured from low quality material. Therefore life of expensive costumes is longer than cheap costumes. At the university level, different types of colors are appeared on the apparels that signify different accomplishments and achievement of the students. At the school level and college level, stoles of different colors are used to represent the academic achievements of the students.
Hood: The hood of the graduation apparel is manufactured by silk. Hood is worn over the uniform. Graduated students wear the hood to show the type of degree which they obtain. There is cord on back of hood which is used to keep the hood at its right place.
Cap: Cap is also known as mortarboard. It is very general component of the particular formal uniform which is worn at the different commencements.
